Written by Zibo Team | Jun 29, 2021

Sure’s embedded insurance infrastructure integrated with Zibo’s financial services helps renters protect themselves and their valuable assets

Renters insurance is a smart way to protect your belongings and minimize liability in the event of an accident. But from researching carriers and coverage to requesting (and waiting for) multiple quotes, finding the right renters insurance policy can be complicated.

Streamlining renters insurance for a digital world

That’s why Zibo partnered with Sure, the fastest-growing insurance technology company in the industry. Sure’s embedded insurance infrastructure enables Zibo to include insurance sales and service on its existing platform. In addition, Sure is a licensed insurance agency in all U.S. states and the District of Columbia. The company provides renters policies backed by leading carriers and a renters insurance API that reduces complexities at each step of the process and helps tenants quickly get the policies they need.

As a Zibo renter, you can customize renters insurance policies from trusted carriers, get instant quotes, and immediately purchase policies — all online. You can then manage and update your policy from your laptop, smartphone, or any device. If an incident occurs, renters can submit claims online without having to print or mail forms — then get reimbursed directly into your bank account.

Combined with Zibo’s tools for renters — including automated rent payments, flexible payment methods, and access to rent reporting — the Sure partnership enables Zibo renters to get what they need to manage their rent in one place. For more information, read our press release

Renters insurance benefits landlords, too

Renters insurance provides protection for landlords as well. There are a number of reasons why landlords should encourage or (where possible) require tenants to get renters insurance.

For example, if a tenant’s personal property is damaged or stolen, they can file a claim and get compensated through their renters insurance — without having to involve their landlord. If a rental property becomes uninhabitable (e.g., due to a fire or flood), renters insurance will likely cover the cost of a tenant’s temporary living expenses. Renters insurance can also cover liability for injuries, so if a tenant’s guest gets injured on the property, the renters insurance policy would compensate the injured party — reducing the landlord’s liability. In any of these scenarios, if a tenant doesn’t have renters insurance and has no other recourse, they may come after their landlord to cover the loss.

As a landlord, it’s important to communicate to tenants that your homeowner insurance policy only covers the home itself, not the items inside.
